The Guide to Garden Flowers by Norman Taylor, 1958
The Guide to Garden Flowers by Norman Taylor.
For years Norman Taylor, author of the standard Encyclopedia of Gardening and curator of plants at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, had been urged by his readers to give them a compact, handy volume limited to the identification and culture of the flowers they can grow in their own gardens. The Guide to Garden Flowers does just that with text including 412 different species, 324 of which are beautifully illustrated in color with the remainder illustrated in black-and-white.
Written by Norman Taylor with illustrations by Eduardo Salgado. Hardcover with dust jacket, published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 1958 with 315 pages. Measures approximately 5 1/2" x 8 3/8". Some wear to dust jacket and some page discoloration due to age.
The illustrations by Salgado are absolutely stunning, and when combined with Taylor's comprehensive assessment of each species, provide everything the home gardener needs to grow the perfect cottage garden, formal floral garden, or cutting bed!
