The Calumet Baking Book, 1929
The Calumet Baking Book.
"Forget your baking worries NOW! No more worries in baking! The Calumet recipes in this book will bring you splendid success every time! That's because Calumet is a double-acting baking powder." And so the promotional nature of this little cookbooklet goes.
Published in 1929 by the Calumet Baking Powder Company of Chicago, this nearly 100-year old recipe booklet is filled with charming illustrations for delicious bakes like Lemon Merinque Pie, Calumet Devil's Food Cake, and the classic Baking Powder biscuits.
Measuring approximately 6 1/8" x 4 3/4" and containing 31 pages full of recipes, The Calumet Baking Book is as handy today as it was when first given away as a promotional advertising piece. Given its age, this cookbooklet is fragile, with wear around the edges and along the spine.
"Good luck to all your bakings. You'll have it if you use Calumet."
