Portuguese Ceramic Soup Tureen with Lid, Hand-painted Alcobaça Pottery

Ceramic Soup Tureen from Alcobaça, Portugal.

Hand-painted in traditional Portuguese cobalt blue with a lovely floral design, this tureen was made in the traditional style first made popular by the monks of the Alcobaça Monastery in the 18th century.

A truly distinctive piece with measurements of approximately 11" long x 7 1/2" tall x 7" wide.  Note that there is some minor chipping around the inside lip, but this is not visible when the lid is in place.
