Antique Pyrex Recipe Booklet, Pyrex Experts Book on Better Cooking.

Published by Corning Glass Works in 1924, just nine years after Pyrex was introduced to the world in 1915, this rare Pyrex advertising recipe booklet is filled with the many ways this miraculous ovenware could used.  The highlight can be found in the middle two-page spread where fabulous illustrations of the earliest Pyrex baking ware show the foods that could be made in each.

Corning Glass Works were the "originators and patentees of oven glass ware" and according to the introduction, "every up-to-date housekeeper owns at least one piece of Pyrex Transparent Ovenware." The introduction goes on to say that much time will be saved by baking and serving appetizers, casseroles, desserts and more in the "great variety of lovely and useful shapes" offered with Pyrex Ovenware.

Measuring approximately 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" with 28 pages inside front and back covers, it is apparent how well-loved this recipe booklet was.  We imagine the original owner had a cupboard full of Pyrex Ovenware in many shapes and sizes and took these recipes, created by Alice Bradley of Boston's famed Farmers School of Cookery, to heart and made them often.  There is some discoloration and wear with a loose binding is.  A bonus leaflet offering free copies "For Your Friends" is a real gem of early Pyrex advertising and promotional efforts.

Given its early age, this edition of Pyrex Experts Book on Better Cooking with its special promotional leaflet is a must-have for any Pyrex lover or collector.
