Pie/Cake Server, Mid-century with Blue Flower and Leaf Motif

Lovely pie or cake server with blue floral and leaf motif and gold-banded handle. 

We are thinking that the flower may be a blue scilla, but aren't certain...either way, it is a charmingly evocative mid-century pattern.

Throughout the early and middle years of the 20th century, ceramic pie or cake servers such as this were manufactured in Europe and the United States for everyday use.  This example measures approximately 9 1/4" long and was well-loved as evidenced by the light crazing overall...imagine the many cakes and pies that were served during holidays and family dinners! These servers were decorated to add a bit of elegance and celebration to serving a piece of pie or a slice of cake.
