McCoy Cookie Jar, Yellow with Hand-painted Blue Flowers, c. 1939
McCoy Cookie Jar, Yellow with Hand-painted Blue Flowers, c. 1939
McCoy round ball cookie jar with lid and handles.
Manufactured in the late 1930s or early 1940s, this sunny yellow cookie jar by McCoy is charmingly hand-painted with lovely blue flowers overall. The style and decorative method for this McCoy line insured that no two are exactly the same given the artist's personal touch. As with so many kitchen pieces from the early years of the 20th century beauty and function were given equal billing - why not have a cookie jar that is designed with classic 1930s styling features and beautiful flowers as well? And, measuring approximately 7" in height x 8.5" in width from handle to handle, there is plenty of room for lots of favorite cookies!
Why not try the classic chocolate chip cookie, invented as the chocolate crunch cookie by Ruth Wakefield at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts in the 1930s? Popularized as Nestlé's Toll House cookie after Ruth sold her recipe to the company in exchange for a lifetime supply of chocolate morsels, you can find the recipe on the back of every Nestlé chocolate chip package!
