Good Things to Eat Advertising Cookbooklet from Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, 1937
Good Things to Eat cookbooklet from Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.
Published in 1937 by Church & Dwight, manufacturers of Arm & Hammer, this little recipe booklet was a promotional giveaway designed to encourage homemakers to cook and bake with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Recipes range from cakes and frostings to cookies and quick breads spread across 15 pages.
There isn't as much advertising hype here as is typical in these giveaway cookbooklets, although the author does say that baking powder is "a necessity throughout the entire household from the bath through the kitchen to the laundry...not to mention the barns and dairies on the farms.
Measuring approximately 6" x 4 1/2", the booklet includes color photographs as well as practical scientific facts and tips for how to "make good things to eat with baking soda."
