Urn-shaped fire ember orange wall pocket made in Germany.

Popularized in the early years of the 20th century, figural wall pockets took form in many shapes and sizes and were designed to hold cut flowers or to root plants such as ivy. Wall pockets were manufactured in the United States and imported from Europe in the years prior to the Second World War, after which imports from Japan became popular and through the 1950s and 1960s.

Glazed in a gloriously rich orange color with black trim, this wall pocket measures approximately 4 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" wide by 3" front to back and has a crisp, modern 20th century style.
