Franciscan Floral serving bowl with lid.

The Floral pattern was one of Franciscan's most popular earthenware lines in the 1970s.  Manufacturing of this "flower power" design began in 1971 and continued until 1977.  Vibrantly colored flowers in shades of purple, yellow, and pink adorn the lid of the bowl (5 3/4" diameter  x 4 1/4" tall).  The lid has a spoon opening on one edge. Made in the U.S.A.

The Gladding, McBean & Co. began manufacturing Franciscan art pottery and dinnerware at its Glendale, California plant in 1934. Originally sold as Franciscan Pottery, the company changed the named to Franciscan Ware in 1937, creating dozens of patterns until they merged with Lock Pipe & Joint Company in 1962.  The new firm, named International Pipe and Ceramics and later becoming Interpace, continued manufacturing Franciscan Ware until another acquisition by Wedgewood in 1979.  Ultimately, after a long and prolific history of design and production, the company, tradename Franciscan and all wares under this title were discontinued by 2013.

Celebrate spring and summer and bouquets of flowers with a table bursting with the bounty of the garden!  We have a number of other pieces in the Franciscan Floral pattern to complete a set, including plates, bowls, cups and saucers, and serving pieces.
