Food-time USA Cookbook from The National Live Stock and Meat Board and WEEU Radio, 1959
Food-time USA cookbooklet published by The National Live Stock and Meat Board.
In the 1950s, WEEU Radio in Reading, Pennsylvania partnered with the UGI Gas Company and The National Live Stock and Meat Board to offer in-person "Gas Cooking Schools" in the ballroom of the grand old Hotel Abraham Lincoln. Advertised on the radio and in promotions to UGI customers, the cooking school taught participants how to cook with gas stoves and ovens while offering significant prizes as incentives to attend. Of course, each attendee also received a useful recipe booklet as a reminder of their gas cooking school experience.
Measuring approximately 6 3/4" x 4 5/8" this souvenir of the WEEU-UGI Gas Cooking School held on 27-28-29-30 October, 1959, includes 39 pages of recipes, tips about different cuts of meats and their preparation, and classic 1950s graphics.
Grab an apron and fire up the gas stove or oven and transport yourself to a time when radio ruled.
