Blue Basket Vase, Victorian Hand-blown Glass with Thorn Handle

This lovely glass basket vase is a beautiful example of a Victorian glassmaker's extraordinary artistry.  In stunning shades of blue and measuring approximately 7 1/2" tall x 5 1/2", this one-of-a-kind piece of artisan glass dates to the late-19th century and features a gorgeous thorn handle.  The dramatic ruffled edge and patterned bowl that mimics cut glass is a testament to the creative vision and artistic talent of the glassmaker. And the life-like thorn handle brings a touch of the rose garden indoors.

We were so fortunate to be able to purchase a stunning group of glass basket vases from a collector who assembled her collection in the 1960s. Identification from the original sources made it so much more fun and interesting for us as our appreciation for these very special treasures grew beyond our initial reaction to their exquisite beauty.

Note: There is a very tiny chip under the lip of one of the ruffles as shown in photo.  It is not noticeable on display but can be felt when running a finger under the ruffle.
