Birds Eye Cook Book, Tempting Recipes for Good Meals!

Measuring approximately 6" x 9" with 64 pages, this advertising-inspired recipe booklet conveys the spirit and progressively convenient taste of the war years.  Birds Eye Brand Frosted Foods was at the forefront of providing easy-to-prepare vegetables year-round.  No need to wait for peas in the spring or raspberries in the summer when all a consumer had to was visit the frozen foods section of the local market!

Thousands of cookbooklets like this were published to promote a seemingly infinite number of new, processed foods in the early and middle years of the 20th century.  Typically small in size and page count, the recipes often originated with and were tested by women with titles such as "home economist" to convey legitimacy and a sense of conscientious budgeting.

This cookbook from Birds Eye emphasizes convenience for the home cook with recipes based on frozen fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish and a focus on everything the housewife needed for a complete meal found in one location at the store!
